Enchanted Forest: An Inky Quest by Johanna Basford
This magical colouring book by Johanna Basford is a New York Times Bestseller, this book takes you through an enchanted forest to discover what lies in the castle beyond but also features hidden objects and fun mazes along the way. The journey is like a good fairy tale and starts at the entrance to the forest, then progresses through woods and flora to the castle. Unusually, even the book jacket is colour-able! Johanna Basford, the illustrator behind hand-drawn illustrations of the Enchanted forest, lives in rural Scotland and takes much of her inspiration from the flora and fauna that surrounded her in her childhood.
It’s a wonderful and beautiful colouring book, full of whimsical and amazing illustrations, 82 pages in total, and the last two pages fold out to create another 4 page illustration. Coloured pencils work well in this book as do Gel pens, even Fibre tip pens do not seem to leak through. This is likely due to the thickness of the pages, which are almost like cardboard, so perfect for removing and displaying too. The book is slightly larger than most adult colouring books too, around 10 inches square, like a large hardback.
